It is my strong recommendation that all expectant mothers put together a birth plan.

Because birth is so special and so personal, the family should have some reasonable input and expectations as to how they would like the birth to proceed.

It is always preferable to find a doctor who is willing to work with you to allow you a more active and comfortable role the labor and delivery. Although some doctors have their own agenda that they seldom stray from, many are aware and birth assistance is being embraced more and are very receptive to it.

You need to know this early in the pregnancy.

You will never forget the experience of birth, so look carefully at your options.

Talk to other mothers, doulas or midwives to get more information about doctors and hospitals in your area.

It is very important to gather as much information as possible.

Here are some books I would recommended. Some of these books may be out of print but I have found auction sites and second hand book stores and sites an excellent resource in finding the books I need. And then.... there is always amazon.com
