A postpartum doula can help equalize the new family.

After the baby is born, is the most under estimated aspect of having a baby.
There is so much attention ,and rightly so, given to pre-natal care that it is easy to overlook.

With a doula your life can continue. A post-partum doula, takes care of the mother as well as the baby as the need arises. There is so much comfort in that. A doula loves babies and that's what its all about.
As a doula, I want people to know that what is called alternative care is really natural care. It is an instinctive relationship parents have with their children. Information is helpful but the core of life is the bond between mother and child. I love to faciltate that bond.
Best wishes to all Moms and Dads!

A Postpartum Doula
& the New Family

The time after the baby is born, is the most demanding. Assurance and reassurance that you are doing things right is the first priority. Being a first time Mom can be an overwhelming. The doula encourages the mom to trust her natural instincts and develop confidence in her role as a mother. This is a vital part of getting your new babies life off to a great start. Many of the women that have used doula services are second time moms, invariably they all wish they had a doula for their first birth.

These are a few of the many aspects of help the post-partum doula can provide.
  • Demonstrate and assist in newborn care
  • Breastfeeding help
  • Encouragment and support for the father
  • Sibling care and attention
  • Household help
Having a doula allows mom to remove herself from the household responsibilites without guilt, knowing that her family's needs are being tended to.

With help, mothers have a better chance to rest and recover from the birth, and parents can begin the lifelong bond with their baby.

Hi Fiona,
I have been thinking of you over the last few days (fondly I might add).  I can't believe it has been a year and a half since you helped us with Sadie.  I miss you and your cheerful way and amazing ability to help with everything I could have imagined (effortlessley too).

I made a recipie of yours last night (chicken enchiladas with the spanish rice)  it was so fabulous.  I wanted to thank you for it and tell you we have affectionately named them "Fiona's enchiladas"

I hope you are well, I'd love an update on what you are doing and where you are.

All my love,
Laura
